Protein Expression Services
Baculovirus vectors infect Sf9, Sf21 and Hi-5 insect cells for efficient production of high-molecular-weight proteins and multi-subunit complexes, making the system well suited to complex recombinant proteins.
This eukaryotic expression system offers high-level expression of foreign genes, efficient production of heterologous multimeric proteins and strong biosafety. Recombinant proteins typically retain correct post-translational modifications and biological activity.
Using insect cells as hosts and baculovirus vectors to mediate target protein expression, the platform provides eukaryotic post-translational modification and is especially suited to VLPs, multi-subunit protein complexes and selected complex proteins, with suspension culture available for scale-up.

Targets already expressed include P450, ActRIIB and ActRIIA
Low-cost, large-volume transfection markedly raises both success rate and yield
Expression reports in as little as 4 weeks and purified protein in as little as 5 weeks.
Codon optimisation, vector construction, virus packaging, expression screening and purification, all customised
Eight stages, including virus packaging, amplification and two levels of scale-up. The baculovirus genome's large capacity suits high-molecular-weight and structurally complex proteins; outputs and acceptance criteria are in the specifications below.
Codons optimised for insect cell hosts and the gene synthesised
Cloned into a high-efficiency vector, sequenced and prepared
P1 virus packaged, produced and titrated
200 mL expression, purification and QC — 85–90% purity
1 L scale-up with 1–2 affinity purification steps
QC by A280, SDS-PAGE and more; concentration >1 mg/mL
Purification report and certificate of analysis (CoA) delivered
Purified protein shipped under cold chain throughout
Vector construction takes 2–3 weeks, virus packaging and amplification 2–3 weeks, P2 expression and purification (200 mL) 2–3 weeks, and large-scale production (1 L) 3–5 weeks; the expression report can arrive in 4 weeks and purified protein in 5.
The baculovirus genome's large capacity and plasticity accommodate sizeable inserts, and post-translational modification approaches mammalian quality — excelling on kinases, membrane proteins, viral antigens and cytokines. Delivered targets include P450, ActRIIB and ActRIIA.
Deliverables, acceptance criteria and timelines by experimental stage. The staging differs from the process above: the process shows how a project runs, while this table is the acceptance basis written into the contract.
