ManualCOAMSDSTFR1(CD71) is a single-pass type II membrane protein in the peptidase M28 family. It is highly expressed in proliferating cells and solid tumors, serving as a diagnostic and therapeutic target. Essential for erythrocyte and nervous system development, TFRC is post-transcriptionally regulated by cellular iron levels via IRP1/IRP2 binding to 3'-UTR iron-responsive elements. Its expression is upregulated upon mitogenic stimulation and is a marker of pancreatic malignant transformation.
